Be still
Being still, silent, or at rest are fast becoming unattainable luxuries in our frenetic health care environment. When each moment of our day is scheduled,or tied to an RVU, how can we possibly allow ourselves to pause, stop moving, and just be? If only for a minute or two? Yet, somehow we sense that in slowing down, we just might catch up to ourselves.
Be Still
by Lao Tzu
Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?
The Master doesn't seek fulfillment, but not seeking, not expecting, is present, and can welcome all things.
Alone or together:
Find a private location where you won't be disturbed. Sit upright, but comfortably with both feet on the floor and your hands falling naturally in your lap or at your side. Turn your attention to your natural breathing and allow your attention to rest on your breath, just as it is. Play the 5 Minute Silent Meditation below while closing or lowering your eyes to the floor and keeping your attention on your breath. When your mind wanders, which it will, gently bring your focus back to the experience of your body, breathing, one breath at at time.
